It’s not the mask vs no mask. It’s the demonization of teachers. Youngkin is just shifting the responsibility. And it sucks. Schools will close because of staff shortages. And Youngkin will blame “lazy teachers”.
He knows he was elected solely because people are unhappy about "education."
To the PP who suggested sending students to the principal's office if they refuse to wear masks, do you really think that will work? My DCs are in HS. If most high schoolers decide not to wear masks, what is the recourse?
They could put them in segregated classrooms for virtual learning.
The order doesn’t limit placing extra restrictions on unmasked kids. You want to forego masks? Fine. But be ready for consequences.
They should be informed of the consequences associated with not wearing a mask and yes, segregating unmasked students away from masked students is legal way to protect students who have medical conditions that make them at risk of severe illness. If you have an underlying medical condition, you cannot change that. Not wearing a mask is not a condition that can't be changed unless you have medical documentation that you can't wear a mask.

Pro mask here but enormous eye roll to the self righteousness of this statement. I guess congratulations to you for not knowing many people.
Sorry it’s true and I know plenty of people. I’m not buying the “everyone will get it.”

It’s clear that the anti maskers just don’t care about others.
Yep I just can’t believe youngkin is forcing people to not to wear mask. This is ridiculous. Did he run on this?

If we are going to roll the dice and let it rip, then we need to not punish the kids who had no choice.
