Bucknell is a little smaller than you want but has an undergrad business school.

These are good additions, and I like Villanova for your kid.

Villanova SOB is tough admit, and even harder to transfer when there. Big yawn on this school. Take themselves way too seriously. DS got the vibe that this is the actual school where fun goes to die. The new upperclass dorm is gorgeous. DS took it off his list.

Providence is a big nooooooo. Immediate surrounding area is a dump. Providence is a cool little city though. Read Reddit Providence College for real reviews, then hop over to Niche. Like BC, business school is heavy white finance bros. Not a diverse school. There's always a twinge of New England arrogance. Lehigh same with big fat Greek life. Just being honest on our end.

Just out of curiosity, what are some schools that you like?

Might be too small but what about Washington and Lee? They offer business and you don't have to apply to get into business once accepted- like W and M and UVA.
My best friend's son went there and loved it- lots of kids from Northeast.

Give them the $150-300K they saved and that's enough to start a business right there.

Thanks for this tip. My kid is looking to go south so adding this to the list. Ranked 44th business school by USNews, ahead of Syracuse, Fordham, Miami OH, Delaware, Denver.

Will need higher SAT 1450 minimum, preferably 1500

No, UVA isn't that big on SAT. Also, W&M has a great business school too. Both though you have to apply once you're in the school and there's no guarantee.

Both are technically South.

If he's flexible on school size, I'd recommend Michigan State or Indiana U. Both great business schools. But big. Might be worth a trip to see what he thinks of them.

I think they meant Miami of Ohio.

Great business school and gives great OOS merit money.

Anonymous wrote:OP here - part of why I want to expand my student's search beyond VA is b/c UVA and W&M are so tough to get into. No other VA schools really appeal to my kid so want to make sure there's a good back-up plan that includes some good out of state options. Ivies, Notre Dame, Carnegie Mellon, WashU prob out of reach unless said kid just nails the SAT and/or cures cancer later this school year, but lots of good options at the tiers below that.

Again, thanks for good suggestions. And to the PP, I don't think this thread is useless at all. Appreciate the ideas. Some of these schools were not on the radar at all.

Check Naviance before you conclude a school is out of reach. Naviance for our MD public shows many kids with these stats being admitted to Carnegie Mellon,

I concur with your BC inclusion.

Since you are willing to include Catholic schools, I'd add St Louis University
