Agreed. It’s just a dumb phone. Low and/or dead battery and not being connected 100% of every waking minute may be good for you.

I am antsy for a charge at 90 percent.

10/20% is when I charge.

I want to charge it when it hits 30-40%. I’m a millennial. I want to get gas at 1/3 of a tank

DH is a boomer wants to charge his phone at 80% and will drive the car with the gas light on for DAYS

DD is Gen Z and is like oh my phone is at 1% maybe I should charge it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ not old enough to drive

No you don't. Speaking as someone who has a phone that recently stopped charging (but my new one hasn't arrived) it's a huge PITA. I can't even drop my kid off right without it, because the school's COVID screener is an app. I don't have any other GPS, so that's also fun. You can't get/respond to text confirmations for doctors appts, I can't see daycare app messages, etc. etc.

I guess I'm good until 15% because that's when my phone asks me if I want to go into battery saving mode. That's my cue to start trying to get to a charger.

Anonymous wrote:Doesn't it deteriorate your battery if you keep charging to 100% all the time? I think Verizon told me that 20-70% is the range we should target and we should not be plugged to recharge above 20% regularly.

I believe this advice is outdated from older style batteries.

Lol no, mine routinely goes down to under 20 when low power mode kicks in

Then I start to think about charging it

Around 20% I want to charge. It seems like the battery loss is non linear in time, and 20% drops fast if I'm using it for FaceTime or even just a call.

I don't really monitor or care what my partner does with their battery levels, as long as their phone isn't constantly dead when I try to call.

Anonymous wrote:If mine gets to 20%, I start thinking about a charger. It doesn’t “bother me” any more than getting down to a quarter tank of gas. I just know I need to fill up when I get the chance.

Exception - hurricanes or tornadoes. We live in a part of Florida where both are risks. I keep everything fully charged during any kind of warning.

I have a solar lamp/charger/radio thing for these occasions. Theoretically I can use the sun to charge a phone if needed during a power outage, though I have not yet had to try.

Anonymous wrote:80%? No, it definitely doesn't bother me.

C. I think it bothers me when it's at about 10% and I have to use it for a conference call.

I'm also that person with 1,000 unread emails in their inbox, FWIW.

Np here, ha! I currently have 342 unread text messages and my phone is going “strong” with a 17% charge left. I'm too lazy to get up and plug it in. I will panic when it hits 4% but that still does not guarantee I will get up 😂

C. Unless I am somewhere where I know I won't be able to charge it and it may totally die.

DH is definitely an A.

When at home, I don't get worried until I get the 20% battery life alert.

When away from home, I get nervous when it's in the 40% range. I start conserving it more and not playing around while bored.

I had emergency surgery not too long ago and didn't have a charger with me. I cut off all notifications (twitter, fb, IG, etc.) after I came out of recovery to make my 35% battery last until the next day when my spouse was allowed to visit. I was surprised how well that worked because the next morning when I woke up, I still had 30% battery!
