If you are looking for a great PK alternative, you might want to see if Scrilli School has openings. It is religious-affiliated, but it is a wonderful school and community, located in Brookland, behind Providence. It does cost money, but is very affordable.

Not all of these are really options for pre-K. I'm not familiar with all, but I know Bruce Monroe and Marie Reed waitlist in-bound pre-K students.
