Parents cannot have it both ways. There is another thread where we are literally screaming that bus drivers should earn $70k/year so families dont have to drive their own kids to school and now they're begrudging staff bonuses. Which is it?

Go to hell. I worked 60+ hours every week, some closer to 80. My mariahe and child suffered greatly. You are a horrible, horrible person.

It was your unions that created the problems. Many of us work 60-80 hours a week on a regular basis, not just last year. Overall, teaching was a disgrace in this area last year. Maybe you were the exception, and if so, that I applaud you. But many, many of your teacher kinsfolk weren't and learning suffered greatly across the board.

No, you don’t. You THINK you work long hours because the meaningless conference calls you “jump on” drone on for hours with nothing actually happening, but you’d last 1/2 day in a pre-COVID classroom.

Why stop at pre-Covid?

Because that was easier than post-Covid!

Ah. Got it.
Definitely!

OP here. I am donating some of my bonus, but to refugee resettlement, not FCPS. I wish I had a lawyer for a spouse. Then I could afford to live in a single-family home and have more than one child.

I worked 6 days per week last year. I also spent over $1000 preparing my home for distance learning, so this bonus will help pay back a little of that cost.

Ooof. What did you buy? I'm not debating, but I'm curious. I didn't spend anything, but I did go into the building every day.

ES Teacher

Second monitor
Standing desk
Giant whiteboard
Interactive tablet for showing work
Small document camera
Subscriptions to Scholastic resources the school wouldn't purchase because we were virtual, but that I used for small-group instruction

Right. Lady, I WISH we had unions set up and ready to do some real collective bargaining - a power only recently bestowed on the myriad teacher associations most of us don’t belong to.

What do you think you are accomplishing by diminishing the teaching profession on this forum, by the way?

Ok these parents suck but that was your fault. Why would you work twice beyond your contract for the same pay and zero respect? Quit letting your family suffer for a JOB.

Much of the FCPS parenting I see in a regular basis is a disgrace.

Than it's a match made in heaven,

PP, remember you and your family are more important than your job. Don’t worry about what these dramatic bit**es say, enjoy your bonus. (Another teacher)
