Subject: Why do some school systems split 6-8 into middle and others just 7-8?
Many in DC seem to be grades 5-8 is middle, 9-12 in high school.

Having seen multiple school systems, I appreciate keeping 6th graders with other elementary school kids. They are big, some are adult-sized, but they're still little kids. Putting them with the 7th graders or 8th graders, they grow up too fast.
My MS was 6-8 and it was awful as a 6th grader.
Most middle schools are 6-8. My daughter is a 6th grader and she’s loving it. From what I can tell, most kids enjoy feeling like a “big kid.”
