Freight trains legal have the right of way, so what do you expect them to do about it?

I had probably a dozen very major delays (5+ hours) and had to deboard a train to another train 3 times (this takes an insanely long time because everyone has to cross over one bridge to another train). I never got any acknowledgment of this, any time it happened. If you really become a nuisance they might refund your ticket.

I did this once between DC and NYC on the Acela. I can't remember if the second train was an Acela or a regional train but it already had passengers on it. As a result many of us had to stand the remainder of the trip (we were just past Philadelphia). No apology or compensation. It didn't even occur to me to ask because, well, Amtrak.

Really? Fascinating.

Who owns AmTrak?

It is fascinating. Public transit is like light rail or commuter trains. Amtrak takes passengers from city to city. Different.

So again, who owns it?

"Amtrak is a state-owned enterprise. This means that Amtrak is a for-profit company, but that the federal government owns all its preferred stock."

My original point was it’s not actually public transit bc it is taking people from city to city. It’s not light rail or a commuter service like VRE.

Aside from that the argument over having a national rAil service v investing in highways and airports in this country is something we all should know about. This is the state of our passenger rail - no high speed and rail service that often fails to serve efficiently.
