BRYC is re- labeling their 07B academy team as pre-ECNL. Kinda weird that they would have a U15 ECNL and U15 PRE- ECNL. Can anyone explain the thinking behind this?
This is interesting. Maybe BRYC is using the PRE-ECNL label for the team that will play in the ECNL-R league. If so they should just name it the BRYC ECNL-R Team so it would like BRYC 07B ECNL, BRYC 07B ECNL-R, BRYC 07B Blue (3rd team) or would this make too much sense?
OMG with all the ECNL-R crap on the site lately. Somebody is new to this.
"Pre ECNL" has traditionally been used two ways.
1. To label a U11 or U12 A team in a ECNL club.
2. It has also been further extended to U13 and older ECNL club B teams.
The ECNL-R designation should replace "Pre-ECNL" as a B team designator.
The first designation for younger age groups is really the only proper and sensible use for it.
But BRYC already has an ECNL U15 team, and their other u15 team is labeled pre doesn't make sense to be a pre at u15
Um, look at the bolded.
Does it make sense? No, but this is how clubs use the letters E C N L to make something seem like more than it is. Parents believe it. Just look at the uptick in ECNL-R discussion lately, as if it is a thing. US Club soccer literally just changed the name from NPL to ECNL-R and BOOOM! parents suddenly believe their kids are really in ECNL or worse. It was literally not much more than a branding exercise and now people are acting like they are in a national level league. It won't surprise me to see clubs extend the brand down to "pre -ECNL-R" soon.
Nah. Nobody is fooled, idiot. Just means they don't have to drive as far or as often. #winning

And for the big clubs- the ECNL-R teams are stacked- with limited ecnl teams, the demand for those teams are high and great players have no choice but to play on the R team.
Don’t sell it short. You get all thr ECNL resources, travel, showcases etc.
“Stacked” seriously? What ECNL resources do you get? Only one team per R league gets invited to the lowest bracket of one ECNL showcase to play against the other ECNL-R and a few of the worst performing ECNL teams.
Other than that you get a patch.
It is just a league on par with CCL, NCSL and mostly EDP. There is no more demand to play on a ECNL-R team than there is a good EDP team. If you’re not on a ECNL team then the team/club you are on is just circumstance and proximity.
Enjoy your CCL scrimmage fests ok?
Ecnl-r has its own showcases and playoff systems now too.

Every time this comes up, “rosé all-day” pops up like clockwork, bashing kids.
Aim high, PP!
Sounds like a nerve was struck. Comments like these wouldn’t be posted if you didn’t insist upon how great ECNL-R is for multiple pages and play down the accomplishments of those kids on the ECNL teams. In other words, you can dish it out but you can’t take it. Anyhow, the kids are great and I am happy for all of them. It’s the parents on this board that need to wake up.
