I wish we could hear how these young women leave their home state, move to Dallas, find a short term furnished rental and afford it all? Did they quit a job for this dream? Didn’t DCUM have a AMA from a Dallas cheerleader awhile ago?

I love the show but hate how the girls are treated.

-salary- it’s not considered a full time position and the earn peanuts. Yet they are “the heart and soul of the team”, the “best in the world” and have these exacting standards. If you think about how much $$ these girls make for the team as a core part of the game, vs how much they are paid, it’s exploitation.

-why can’t they pick up choreography? The show constantly features girls who cannot seem to follow choreography. I’m so confused about this. Are these basically women who have spent their entire lives dancing since they were three years old? The choreography of the dances is not particularly complex. Yet they are always struggling to pick up choreography.

-they don’t seem like amazing dancers. They are absolutely good dancers. But have you ever watched “world of dance”? That level of dance and choreography will make you cry. There are always girls who don’t even have any dance experience. And I’m thinking to myself, you could pick anybody want to be on your cheerleading squad, why would you pick people with no technical training? I’m not saying they are bad dancers. I’m just saying for the way they tout how this is the biggest and most amazing stage in the world, they seem to get a lot of people who don’t have any technical training and it shows. (Remember how they were always going on not about Meredith and her “technically placed feet”? I mean, shouldn’t everybody on that team have years and years of dance training?

-the treatment of veterans- this always bothers me. That they cut veterans and make them apply for their jobs every year.

-The selection panel. They have the most random people on their selection panel. Why is the hairstylist deciding who will be on the team?

-The drill sergeant. He’s so judgmental and arrogant about the girls bodies. Also, his techniques for training are literally straight out of the army. There’s absolutely nothing innovative about how he trains.

-The girls are at risk of injury. Did you ever see the episode where they were doing some kind of breast cancer awareness thing and they had the girls doing advanced cheerleading tricks like throwing them up in the air etc.? The girls had no idea how to do that. They are a dance team. I was absolutely shocked that they put the girls at risk like that.

-that the girls who need to go to Kelly’s office just sit there on the dance floor for what looks like ours. Doesn’t it feel like it’s like midnight? Are they getting paid for that time? Probably not.

Just saw episode 2. Damn Natalie Woods house is big fir the rookie to stay in! I wonder what she or her husband do. I know it’s Texas though so that house probably cost $100k. 😎

Also, love this show. This dancing skill is like something I could never do, and Kelly and Judy give constructive feedback.

It has actually taught me about how to react when receiving negative feedback at work. (Hint, don’t cry or be defensive).

No commercials PP - you have inspired me! This 55 year old sag-ass frumpy DC dork loves her DCC - especially Judy and Kelly. Class acts those two -the tears, the joy, the drama - this show has it all. Can't wait.

Yes, it’s dance training and natural ability and muscle memory.

Broadway dancers and pro dancers are also known for this; almost immediate ability to understand and perform intricate choreography. If you can’t learn quickly (and remember) you would have washed out years ago.

Most of the DCC veterans and rookies have been dancing since they were toddlers and nearly all were on dance/cheer teams through high school and college.

I cannot dance and have no natural rhythm so to me it is almost unbelievable they can learn new routines so quickly. Is that a standard skill learned from years of dance/cheer or more natural ability?
