maybe play up one or two age groups?Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:The rush for rhe cup brackets are really lopsided. I feel sorry for some of the kids out here.
so do i but it's not the tournaments fault it's because of some of the teams that decide to go there instead of a higher tournament or to not play up like Bethesda their
09 team has scored 31 goals in 2 games and bethesda 2010 with 17 in 2 games
same thing with va union 09 with 19 goals in 1 game
McLeans lowest level White team beat the same team 3-1. Reasonable/Balanced.
Then in the next game VA Union won 12-0. McLean's Mid Tier Green Team beat the same team 1-0.
VA Union/McLean definitely the one that shouldn't have been in the bracket.

Bethesda had the chance to go to the obgc same thing with VA union but McLean was just coach preference I guess
I am sure Bethesda and McLean/VA Union will send their top teams to various ECNL showcases later in the season, but for a local preseason tournament Rush for the Cup is not a bad tournament. Yes, non-ECNL teams get overmatched, but ECNL teams work on formations and try players in new positions without much pressure. My kids played in both OBGC tournament and Rush for the Cup. Both are good local tournaments. I prefer Rush for the Cup because all games are at a single location (MD soccerplex), while OBGC tournament fields vary in quality and are scattered around Maryland. At least on the girls side, OBGC tournament is not bursting with ECNL teams (MD United entered their ECNL teams in some of the age groups, but they play against non-ECNL competition). So Bethesda and VA Union coaches probably just went with a more convenient location for a preseason tournament.
