Our kids have probably crossed paths. For specialty camps, mine also like Art House 7 and Reston Golf.
Yes, maybe! Thanks for the lead on Art House 7!

Camps are one of those things where you get what you pay for.

Some of us aren't in the position to be able to afford $10,000 for summer camp alone, excuse me.

In DC my early elementary school kids love Urban Adventure Squad and also had a great pod and leader for Mr. Tony's Adventure Camp. Definitely lower key than many camps mentioned here but still fun.

Butler and Whitman that were posted above. They’re in Darnestown though which isn’t convenient for a lot of people.

As the kids get older, there are more options for cheaper camps that are also well run but for the younger age groups you are looking at $450+ for a well run camp (in our experience). Some of the camps run by church groups are much cheaper and also well run.

Camp Kids Place, mentioned by a few people here is $350 per week. My son loved it from age 6-11 and then became a volunteer and then a counselor. They do a great job and I was impressed with the time they spend on staff training.

It does have a religious component (run by a Baptist church) but seems to be done with a light hand and my non-Baptist kid who hated Sunday school and would not participate in youth group at our Methodist church was happy there.

They also seemed so disorganized on which groups should kids should be in. My kid was at first placed into a group with all younger kids and her friend request was completely ignored until the friend’s mom and I loudly complained. Not sure if we’ll be back at Barrie next year. They were so good in 2020 when everything else was shut but disappointed this year.

Huh, we did both Landon and Barrie too (and Barrie last year in 2020) and found both to be fine. Agree Barrie didn't need to shut down the whole camp as opposed to just groups, but I'd rather an over-reaction than an under reaction.

My daughter loved Camp Greenway at Madeira. No issues with Covid, lots of swimming and water play, arts and crafts. Beautiful campus also. She didn’t care for a few of the lunch options, however, although she’s a picky eater.
