It is about the trajectory of woman's soccer in America. DUH. That's what I'm speaking to. It's not just the AGE, we are going to be eclipsed more and more because America (boys and girls sides) does not have the training methodology and system that is overseas. They are 30 years behind America with their women's side and everyone is catching up quickly. That's my point.
Our youth soccer identification, national team selection process, coaching, etc. all pale in comparison.[/quote
YES! ID process needs completely revamped, national team selection needs updated. Why are the same kids picked over and over when there are more than 4000 kids in the age groups wanted. Each age group. Stop paying scouts for nothing.
And - really what's the point? To make 40K on a pro team??

This assumes of course that we can't right our own domestic league ship.
The women in Europe are subsidized by them men. The MLS has neither the means nor the desire to do so
MLS is at best a third tier league when compared to Europe. There is no way they could keep their own house in order and then subsidize NWSL.
The NBA subsidizes the WNBA and haven't been sued yet
Just a matter of time. As an organization you can not spend less on facilities and pay people less based on gender in the US. This is why US Soccer dropped DA.

Totally. I didn't understand that comment either. Of course, the NBA has boatloads of money and chooses to subsidize the WNBA because it's good for business AND I sincerely believe the individuals involved want the WNBA to exist.
MLS? The may want the USWNT to succeed but they don't have the money nor unified leadership to do much about it.
The NBA is the global standard for basketball (no one overseas care at all about MLS; top tLent in their prime do not aspire be in MLS) so you cannot even compare soccer in America to basketball. What attracts talent is money. Like you said MLS lacks the cash and drawing power for top talent (coaches, trainers, managers, and players). The US women will be competitive on an international stage for years to come but the playing field is leveling and without the cash and the evolved developmental system we should consider the glory days done.
No kid at 14 years old picks their sport based on earning potential.
You’re right but the top athletes will eventually go where the money and talent is in order to further develop their skills and get paid.
If that is where the money and the best soccer is then that is where they should go. The shell that our pro league has become in comparison is embarrassing. To think the what Title 9 provided as an advantage has been stripped away by a domestic league that pays less than a full time job at McDonalds.
I applaud the efforts to get the National Team salaries to be equal to the men how many of our young players can afford to play in NWSL for 20 to 50k a year waiting for their chance to make the National team just to earn decent money. How much talent have we lost in the last decade because we kept this group together and our league didn't pay their inheritors enough to stick around long enough for their chance?

The biggest indicator of domestic league health is the salaries of the players. Can the league afford to pay a living wage. NWSL is one of the lowest paid leagues. I really wonder if we lost talent this cycle by keeping such an old team. $150k will keep an 18 or 20 year old playing. $22k (to a high of $52k) is hard living. Let’s face it the younger players are going to be getting closer to $22k vs $52k. I do not know how long I would play for $22k a year and no shot at moving to the national team.
