Women who are >8 gravitate toward successful/wealthy men, not tall men. There is some overlap. But being tall and average income is not going to do you any favors landing an 8+ woman

You should read some statistics about that - 90% of CEOs are tall.
Very feminine women prefer someone towering over them.

If you lower your bar really low, yes, it would be easy. But, women don't need to do that anymore. Thankfully. Women can now be choosier. If you are looking for a good looking guy, who makes good money, is kind, a good person, educated.. those are not easy to come by.. anywhere. It's like a man who is looking for a beautiful woman, with a hot body, and loves sex, and doesn't mind cooking and cleaning up after him and doing all the chores. There are very few women who fit this bill, as well.

My DH is generally a kind person; makes decent money; pretty smart, but he's got a total dad bod with moobs and is a bit of a nerd. I'm not a gorgeous model who always wants sex and is willing to do all the chores and childcare and work.

We both compromised, but we're happy.

Picture this: The stunningly handsome male lead of that new rom-com movie leans in to kiss his equally stunning female lead. Except something is off , he’s shorter than she is ... but you’re not really supposed to pick up on that. No serious Hollywood romance worth its salt would stage such a scene, even when the male lead actor in question actually is shorter than his female counterpart.
All manner of angling tricks, as well as solutions high-tech and low-tech (the actor literally standing on a platform) will be used to ensure that all is right in this cinematic world. That means the man will always be just a little bit taller than the woman.

No thats not what I am saying at all, clearly people have different preferences. Lots of tall women date short dudes and marry them and live happily ever after. Yes and no. You are talking from a perspective of a very tall woman who realized it would be smarter to compromise on height.
But when you are 5'3 - 5'6 woman, you don't really have to do that. And you'll still have a decent pool of available men.
