DC was never given federal land to establish a “state university”. DC residents deserve a lot more than a measly 10-15k off state unis.

Then they’d also have to agree to prioritize DC students for admission along with their in state students. The program would do no go if you couldn’t get admitted to VA or MD schools. My son did get into W&M from DC with excellent grades/scores but only barely.

DC should make an agreement with MD and VA for in-state tuition rather than this program.

Virginia resident here-My child attends Clemson and we pay out of state tuition. I don’t understand how the cost of out of state tuition justifies a $15k credit that other students don’t get.

Because your child had the option to attend any one of the many excellent public universities in Virginia at an in-state rate. Residents of the District have no such option other than UDC, a commuter school that is pretty much a community college. None.

The only way the $15k jump will be approved is if the income cap is raised to $750k.

Well, genius, it comes from Congress. Your tax dollars (and mine) help pay for it. It costs $40M/year in a $6.6T budget.
