Why is this always the retort? Some of us love living here and aren’t evil white gentrifiers. Having concerns about public safety and uptrending violence doesn’t automatically make one racist. We expect better and want those responsible to be held accountable, even if it means having difficult conversations about race and class. Nothing changes if nothing changes.
Yeah it's so weird. It's like half the city of DC enjoys the crime and refuses any solution. I guess that's why your guys city has become such a mess.
I don’t enjoy the crime, but I’m not a fan of punishing BIPOC because some redneck in VA is able to buy a gun. Take guns away from that redneck who’s selling those guns, and shootings in DC will stop.
No, no they won’t. Why do BIPOCs shoot each other regardless of where and how they acquired the gun? Explain that please.
They shoot each other BECAUSE THEY HAVE GUNS, dumbass! The presence of guns is what CAUSES the shootings. No guns? No shootings. Take guns away from everyone, and no more shootings. This isn’t math, ok? The answer is right in front of you and it’s plainly obvious. And let’s not overlook another obvious benefit of getting rid of guns besides reducing urban crime - disarming insurrectionist-Americans. Millions of potentially violent GQP’ers out there with arsenals of weapons. They are a serious threat to the security of this country and as long as they stay armed they will remain the threat.
So, we take guns away from law abiding citizens and who is left with guns? Criminals. You think they are going to give up their weapons? No.... they are criminals BECAUSE they don't follow the law.
So, these criminals break into a house and the homeowner has no defense... except maybe a kitchen knife - until those are confiscated as well. Or, maybe they can go into their pantry and throw canned goods at the thieves. Until they are shot dead by the intruders.
The number of shootings will decrease dramatically in your scenario where “only criminals have guns” because most people aren’t criminals. Duh. There are plenty of other options available to people who are defending themselves against home invasion - wasp spray is just as effective at incapacitating someone attacking you, and they don’t be killed as a result of it.
