I’m an early riser, and often try to get stuff done while the rest of the house is still sleeping, but wait to send texts until after 9am.

I do use DND, but if you feel the need to send me non-emergency texts very early or late as a habit, I’ll drop you. It shows that you have a very inflated ego, to think that someone needs or wants to hear from you before sunrise.
This. I’m a nanny and my boss will just randomly text me at 11pm. Even if I’m awake, it annoys me hearing from my boss at that hour. Why can’t you use email??? I asked my boss to stop, she ignored me, so I not only muted her, but gave her a silent ringtone. Now when she texts me during the day at work, I don’t see her messages unless I check my phone. Natural consequences.

DP, I think it's you who has the inflated ego if you expect everyone to know and contact you only with specific hours. Put your phone on silent, and it's no problem. People have different schedules and you/they respond when they can.

I don't use social media, so I guess I do this with my close friends 😭

Not everyone uses DND. If you have elderly parents or older teens, you tend to keep your phone on.
My elderly relatives generally text between 11pm-2am - and we're in the same time zone. They are 85+, and know how to use DND. Take charge of your phone if you don't want to be bothered.
?
I’m the emergency call. I’ve had to pick them up in the middle of the night to take them to the ER.
My teen stays out late. I need to hear the phone ring in case of emergency.
I would be furious if a friend or coworker or even one of my siblings texted some unimportant nonsense between 10pm and 8am (later on weekends).
My assistant loves to text at 7am. No clue why. Other colleagues have texted what should have been sent as an email at 1am. It’s rude.
I can’t really anticipate all the people who might call in case of an actual emergency. I manage a very large team, and I have received calls/texts very late/early for actual emergencies.
I don’t understand why you and the others feel entitled to text during universally accepted inappropriate times? It’s truly baffling and makes you look clueless.
It’s not difficult to text during normal hours. No clue why you are defending this by blaming people who opt not to use DND. Think about that.
“You are inept for not silencing your phone at 2am in case I’m so rude that I insist upon texting you a cat meme.”
