The “boys”, black, white, or brown, dont know how to make firework in their back yard or a cave.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Seriously? And this, too, is supposed to just be tolerated? Or is anyone working for DC actually acknowledging the problem and working to end it?
Why do you want young black men arrested? Are you a giant racist, or just a regular racist?

As long things don't get out of control and people get hurt, then I'm cool with it. But they should only get 2-3 days, not 2-3 weeks.
Ummm...dirtbikes and ATV's...
Do you live in DC?
+1. Also, how about we don’t let anyone get away with doing bad stuff just because they’re “boys”?

Yeah, I live in NE and I have to drive my dog to upper NW every single day in the summer because he gets so traumatized by the fireworks he refuses to go to the bathroom in my neighborhood. I don't want anyone to be arrested unless they're serial offenders, but it would be nice if the police gave ANY disincentive at all like fines and confiscation.
Police are ok with you driving your dog across town to pee rather than risking getting fired confronting a young black male over fireworks.

Yep, where I grew up it was young white rednecks who were out blowing things up with fireworks. That's where the expression, "hold mah beer" came from.![]()
There’s a distinct shortage of young white rednecks in DC though.

This is a DC summer thing that starts around the 4th of July and goes all summer. It is not a few bangs and then over. Some people, not me, get genuinely disturbed by the randomness.
But the police will never arrest anybody concerning the explosions because of the demographics involved with those entertained by blowing things up all summer. It is simply not worth it.
Um, what are you talking about? The newbies are usually the complainers. I'm a DC native and it's tradition to me. I don't participate in any of the illegal ones, but we set of lots of the legal ones and enjoy seeing others throughout the neighborhood. Most of us are used to it. It's definitely crazy the days surroounding the 4th, but it's really not all summer except sporadically.
