At our pool (NVSL) - it’s fastest times this season. It starts at time trials & then there will be Saturday A meets and Monday B meets each week, and after the B meet on Monday - the ladder gets updated with any PRs swam on Sat or Mon that week. The ladder is how they choose who goes to A meets.
I approve of using the ladder & I think it’s fair.
+1 my kids love that it doesn’t matter if you are the coach’s favorite or if your parents volunteer to most. If you are top 3 in a stroke on the ladder you swim, if you aren’t, you don’t unless someone ahead of you passes on that stroke
Do your pools post this for all to see at the pool or something?
Ours used to physically post it at the pool back in the day but now I think they just email it to the whole team once a week.
Download the SwimTopia app - the times from time trials and B meets are posted there. You can put together the ladder yourself that way. A meets results aren’t posted there though (NVSL) - that is a wrinkle. But you can get a decent idea from SwimTopia.
Depends on if your team uses it. I’ve also found if your kid isn’t in a meet, you can’t see results. For example, my kids didn’t swim B meet this week, I can’t see any results. We had A meet today, only our team’s results are visible to me.
This is the SwimTopia user - try clicking at the bottom of a screen - events. Then click to see other event times. We haven’t skipped a meet (not that there has been more than two) but this way I can see all the times. Also - I pay the 2.99 fee to use it. I’m not sure what that gets me (I had hoped for historical times from a different league but no such luck).

Anonymous wrote:If you want your kid to swim at A meets and your kid isn't consistently in the top three go to a smaller pool where they don't have enough kids to swim at all the A meets and your child will automatically get to swim.
