Right but no one is driving a Pacifica past 10 years, whereas Odysseys can stay on the road for MANY more years after that. Or you can sell them for a decent price, whereas the Pacifica is scrap metal.

Um, because they haven't been around 10 years?

We have a Pacifica and honestly didn’t even look at other options because the reviews were much better for the Pacifica (car and driver etc). Ours is a couple of years old and I think it was the first minivan to have driver assist which factored into our decision and that is probably not the case today. Anyway, it drives well and we haven’t had any issues at all.

No need to be surprised at all. Honda Accord reviews much better than any Chrysler/Dodge sedan, but there are still fans of Crysler/Dodge sedans. I was really impressed with the Pacifica when I rented one on a vacation. Compared to our Odyssey, it had some things which we liked a lot more, but other things we were just like the Odyssey more. I don't think either is a bad choice.

The backseats in the Pacifica felt like folding chairs to me. I also wanted 8 passenger.

If you are just buying a minivan for convenience and safety then Pacifica is the way to go. That said, people are so obsessed with the Odyssey that you can sell a used 5 year model for about $35k then upgrade so keep that in mind if you're buying new.

Hahaha. I wish this were true. Nowhere close. But I have a 5 year old Odyssey to sell if you can get me $35k for it.

I know the PP is just joking, and I don't have a 5-year-old Odyssey. But I do have an out-of-warranty 3.5-year-old 2018 Elite. Carvana offered me $36k for it. That means they can make a few thousand on top of that... meaning there are quite a bit of people out there willing to pay quite a bit of money for a used Honda Odyssey.

5 year old Ody owner here. So are you going to do it? What would you get instead? Does Carvana do the quote online?

I really need the Odyssey for the next few months, but maybe by August, I won't need it as much and would absolutely sell it if it was still in the $35k neighborhood. I bought the van for $42k new so that would work out to a pretty reasonable cost/month for driving a new van.

Yes, you can put in the details on Carvana's website and they'll give you an offer. You can also try Vroom, but Carvana gave me a better offer. I did sell a car to Vroom two years ago and they beat Carvana's price back then.
