Why not call the organizations and see what they need?

Ie, the food bank said donations are low....

Initiative is elusive, but it can be found.

Right now I can think of 3 or 4 remote or online volunteer opportunities that organizations provide and will sign off on volunteer hours for.

You and OP's kid are not looking hard enough or not that interested.

NAME THEM.

Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

The kid doesn't like the pool or swimming.

It's supposed to be a pleasant experience.

I personally hate the heat and and the smell of chlorine. Yuck.

Please name the opportunities instead of criticizing our kids.

Remember, it's not like they know the names of 50 nonprofits off the top of their heads to search on those sites. My son looked on the Montgomery County volunteer match website - I was sitting right next to him - and most opportunities he clicked on brought him to a message that the org isn't accepting volunteers at this time. My son doesn't "need" the hours for grad, he just wants to get involved with something meaningful to him.

that's a great lead, but they mostly appear to be year round PT jobs, not summer PT jobs.

If they only want summer try

Parks and Rec departments: cashiers, trail maintenance, etc.

Pools and Country Clubs: cashiers, lifeguarding, caddying

Camps: lifeguards, counselors

Go into Indeed and use "summer" as your key word.

I did... all related to the pool - life guard ad swim instructor. DC is not a strong swimmer.

Summer jobs for teens are pretty popular, so I don't think it's that easy to find a PT summer job here.
