I don't think OP said the kid *needs* to wear a dress. Personally my 2 year old asks for dresses because she likes mine. I wear them because they are comfortable.
But you don’t play on a playground for two hours daily. Pp is right. Shorts and tees on girls. Dress is just vanity imposed by society. Give her functional clothes!
I don’t see how a lightweight cotton dress over a pair of bike shorts is not functional.
Because the longer dresses lead to more injuries when on the playground equipment. They get their feet caught up in them.
