Did Burke beat the McLean ECNL team? They are second-from-bottom of area ECNL teams in that age group. They also got beat by BRYC ECNL team over the weekend. That said, the BAC team I saw (their second team) was quite impressive. I am not surprised their top team is really really good.
No BURKE NCSL beat BRYC ECNL
Hey, when ODSL existed, there were some teams in that league that could beat a lot of teams in other leagues.
It's like comparing leagues in Europe. Could Rangers, on a given day, beat a relegation-fodder team in the EPL? Sure. Would anyone claim the Scottish league is somehow better than the EPL? Nah.
(BTW, I didn't realize until I just checked that ODSL has gone on indefinite hiatus. It's a pity - http://www.odsl.org/odsl-will-not-schedule-games-for-the-fall-of-2021-and-indefinitely-going-forward )
The trend in NOVA seems to be consolidation.
I suspect CCL has only one year of life left in the area.
ECNL R/NPL and EDP seem to be the preferred platforms for the top teams in the area that are not ECNL or MLS next. NCSL can handle all the rest.

Sample size = 1.
But congrats. There are good teams and good players in every league. I've been surprised to see a lot of rec players beating out travel players to make high school teams.
ABSOLUTELY! It's almost a completely different sport at times. Not always, but a lot of times I see HS value athleticism over soccer IQ (where to move with/without the ball/where to pass)/touch. Dump and Run FTW! If you're big and fast you are definitely favored in certain HS programs. Bonus points if you have a little touch to collect the 50 yard dump ball your center back or goalie just sent down field! GIT SUM! Rubbin's Racin, B!t$es.
RantingSoccerDad wrote:The players I know making HS teams from rec aren't fast or strong. They can play better than the kids who somehow weren't made better just because their parents spent more money.

Burke also beat SYC who are ECNL-bound.
SYC is not ECNL bound. Does anyone know how many players from this SYC 07 boys team are ECNL bound?

The 07 team that Burke beat 1-0 was not their ECNL team but their second - Elite Academy team. #2: You also forgot to mention that the second BRYC team won the bracket while Burke finished 4th. So, back to the drawing board on cheap shots, Skippy!
It is BRYC 07 ECNL team.
As normal neighborhood clubs' game, the players played well, and they are classmates and friends. Boys performed well, friendly, and showed respect for each other.
Somehow there is bad blood between parents from both teams.
So you have this.
They also tied McLean ECNL.
Apparently BAC has one good team. Are any of them leaving team next year?
The top division of the Virginian 07 Group had have some interesting results. Burke did beat BRYC ECNL and they tied McLean ECNL. SYC MLS Next team beat Burke 3-0 and BRYC beat SYC in group play but then lost to them in the finals. SYC MLS Next guest played Alexandria's top MLS Next player. Why would SYC MLS Next team feel the need to guest play a rival MLS Next team's top player to play in the Virginian? Seems odd. He's going to DCU so it wasn't a recruiting maneuver. Anyway...Burke also has two wins against SYA and a win against Skyline who I think are top CCL teams also a win against Beach top team. Burke plays Arlington ECNL in state cup semi finals this coming weekend. Might be interesting.

McLean 07 W2L12T1
BRYC 07 W1L11T3
Combined W3L23T4
ECNL Mid-Atlantic division is a strong league, but BRYC and McLean are exceptions. Both clubs sit at or close to the bottom of the division in almost very age group. I expect neither would be admitted to the league today based on their teams' current performances.
I think that particular BRYC team should not be playing in the ECNL. They really are an NCSL level team who are bringing down the credibility of the ECNL. I feel bad for the kids they have expectations of being college players. The club has sold them false hopes and promises ignorer to collect their money. Shame on you BW be more involved in forming a roster.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:As talented as Burke might be, you the parent are killing any respect they may have earned. I’m sure they are hard working young men, but you took time out of your day to trash an entire league. Not sure what you are trying to accomplish. Beat NCFC, Arlington, VDA, Richmond, etc...then we can talk.
Same should be said to BRYC supporters lets talk after you beat those teams too.
