+1 for Zeke's, my favorites are the Ethiopian Kembata and the Mexican Chipas. The Chipas is available at Whole Foods.

I like Swift River Roastery in Maine as Pipers Tea & Coffee in Paducah.

We get coffee most coffee from Grounds for Change.

You can have so much fun trying new coffees like http://waialuaestate.com/coffee/

A lot of ours are one-off because we're just enjoying exploring things like geisha, etc. There are some unique varieties from Uganda I'd like but haven't found a source yet short of going to visit. If you want the names, they are all listed on the Slow Food's Ark of Taste.

Medium roast doesn't come through on a cold brew. For pour-over or french press I'm with you. But I'm 99% cold brew now, so tut tut

I was a would-be coffee snob for a few months, buying freshly roasted and ground single-origin and blends from local shops, and trying Atlas Coffee Club. Turns out what I like most are the cheaper finely ground blends with some robusta, like Lavazza Classico and Melitta Classic Blend (which doesn't explicitly say it has robusta, but also doesn't say 100% arabica). I also got tired of standing over a pourover cone, and switched to the "OXO Brew Pour-Over Coffee Maker with Water Tank". The tank on top of the cone changes it from a pourover to, in essence, a little $15 coffee maker that's automatic except for the fact that you pour in boiling water rather than cold water.

Agreed. Have you ever tried Harrar on Georgia Ave? They roast fresh there, and have several heirloom varieties. It's a little pricey but makes a great cold brew.

I love African coffees! If you like Ethiopian, tryRwanda, Kenya and Ugandan.

Lately we’ve been getting Beanetics, which is in roasted in Annandale. We had been buying Stumptown for a long time but decided to try some thing local and I actually like it better. My favorite is the Bali Blue Moon.
