Mackinack Island in Michigan in the summer. The water is incredibly blue, the island is wooded and quaint with only horse drawn carriages (no cars), and a cute Main Street. The weather was incredible. It was such a special trip.

Marco Island, Fl—We went to visit relatives who had recently retired there and found it was the perfect family destination. As long as it’s not season (Nov-Apr) you can rent a great house with a pool, often with a canal and dock in the backyard you can fish from and maybe see a dolphin or manatee. The beaches are pristine and the surf is usually really low key so little ones don’t get knocked of their feet. We now go regularly and as my kids get older we’ve started to explore the Everglades too. Plus, in the summer there is a great water park in Naples my kids love.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

I found the public transportation system incredibly easy to navigate. Everyone was extremely nice. The sites and food were amazing. Some people made it seem like it would be dangerous but I felt comfortable the entire time.

I love it up there too. .but that wine is marginally better than VA! It's all so sweet bleh

Just my .02 but a place can be both dirtier than you expected and better than you expected as far as the experience itself.

Rome is bigger and has more interesting things to see, but the scenery around Florence is much prettier. Italy is one of my favorite places, especially the Tuscan area. Got married there.

NP but Pittsburgh also has a really great children's museum, kids loved going up the Incline, and we enjoyed the Phipps Conservatory (also a great outdoor children's area). And some really good breweries and restaurants.

+1 On Pitts. DC was impressed with the city and is seriously thinking of going to college there. I was impressed with the food scene, too. We are foodies.

Another Pittsburgh and South Dakota lover. The scenery at Blacks Hills was amazing and also at the Badlands. The kids had a great time. We toured Wind Cave and Jewel Cave as well.

Santa Fe. Had no idea it was such a cute and interesting place.
