compare new players with their current players?
They are identified at tryouts/id sessions and then invited to attend training sessions with the team. We had outside players attend several practices with our team.
I think this is only for the more competitive teams. My son got (and was thrilled to have) a blue team offer without going to a practice - it was just based on the tryouts.
Which year?

Arlington announced that all players in good standing will receive an offer to return to the Club, however there may be movement between teams.
^there
With the caveat that the player is also "meeting all the team expectations" which feels like this gives the club the option of cutting dead weight.

Many outside players simply requested to attend team practices prior to tryouts so it is not entirely based on actual tryouts
We were told tryout attendance was mandatory (after attending several team practices). My kids also attended both tryouts and they were evaluated at tryouts by 7 Coaches at the field as well as by the Coach at team training sessions. I am not sure what happens if you did not attend the tryouts, or at least one of them.
Unlike prior years, I found players were scrutinized more because you had at least 5-8 coaches watching the one field at all times...unlike tryouts of the past where some fields had no coaches and one coach was the one who decided who moved where. It was a panel of evaluations. There were about 2 coaches per every 1 player at the tryouts for 2 separate age groups (2 kids) that we attended.

You may not know if that is true. Some players were identified at the Academy/ECNL sessions back in April and then were invited to team training sessions.
the prior post was intended for non ECNL/Academy teams
