I thought cicadas are harmless to trees and plants? My back yard that is bordered by forest is full of them.
A huge oak is full of them, and the base is full of their shredded skins!

In the suburbs, not really. This is our second go round with the 17 year Cicadas. We had new trees then and now. They were fine. And we get a LOT of them.
