The behavior of the students was horrible, but entitled and often homophobic behavior sadly happens on many campuses in particular that of expensive colleges. What vaults this into a problem unique to Bucknell is the campus security's abhorrent response.

So why is this an anti-LGBT act? Do we not think this group of frat boys would have “attacked” if the house had just been turned into a different fraternity? Is every crime a hate crime if its victim is LGBT?

I just can't imagine the families that produce such humans. Who would PAY for this experience, and (as I sometimes see on this site), who would then defend their kid's actions (pay lawyers, sue the school, etc).

I almost feel like if the parents defend them, they kid likely had NO prayer to turn out any different.

Oh I know. A bunch of chapters sued and lost but I think DKE was the only one who absolutely refused. There’s an interfaith social house there now. 😃

You seem to be trying to pick a fight that is not there. The article suggests something in the headline and then doesn't really pursue it. It is an important question, particularly when each unsubstantiated allegation of bias undercuts the actual, important cases.

Agree 100%. I went to Bucknell in the early 90's on a full scholarship. They actively recruit from inner cities and minorities. I truly feel like they try to do the right thing, but the students are total jerks. Administration still needs the support of alum so they often are caught between a rock and hard place. It is TOTALLY unacceptable frat boy behavior which seems to never stop.


I know a woman who went there in their engineering department, which really focuses on attracting and supporting female engineers. She had a good experience there but I would guess stayed far away from the frat boy culture.
