Yes, OP, I am fascinated by NYC/old money society.

On a separate note, is Marina Rust still married? How old are her daughters now -- are they in college?

I’m not fascinated by high society per see, because it’s not really that high anymore. Lots of new money, not as traditional. I am interested in the boarding school and international boarding school but don’t know anyone.

I grew up in NYC and went to private school in the 80s. This movie is the only tv/movie that gets it right. Though, I don’t remember having any intellectual conversations while drinking in a ball gown in a Park Ave. apartment. We were usually playing quarters and plotting which bar or club to go to.

Nope. Don’t care a whit about “high society” - it’s an outdated term and an outdated lifestyle. Rich is different.

Florida? Blech. Nope.

Anonymous wrote:I totally am. I have no idea why. I'm not envious or wanting that life, but I do find it so interesting. My pop culture interests skew this way too. I'm fascinated by British Royalty, old money families, boarding/prep school life. I also dig Wharton's books and the like too. It's just so foreign to how I grew up that I find it interesting.

I went to boarding school, so that's probably why NYC high society doesn't interest me. I do have a thing for William and Harry.

Maybe Edith Wharton’s high society—Undine Spragg or Isabel Archer.

Undine Spragg was a social-climbing arriviste. The noble but deluded Isabel Archer was created by Henry James. Both great characters in very different ways.

Why is Marina's date (at least year) of birth scrubbed?

I know the Lauders. They are good people, socially.

Good people aren’t friends with Trump.
