Be careful. Hawaii's economy is heavily tourism based so it's like a revolving door of people. Men and women there make money charming tourists who pay for things while they are there and get money from them and then are done with them upon leaving.

living on an island, everyone knows everyone or is related. Small minded, small town thinking. Very little professional opportunity outside of military or tourism. Alaska has a lot of single men too, but really not worth settling down with a surviavlist. Same story, different weather.

This was not my experience at all. When I lived there, the local men had a hard time making real money. They all worked multiple jobs and seemed very emeshed with their families.

My friend divorced and stayed on island. This is 10 years ago and she is still single. She couldn’t find a normal guy to date. And she’s Filipino, so she has some shared cultural history with the locals.

And to those that think everyone is thin and beautiful- not even close. The Hawaiians give new meaning to body self acceptance. Huge women on the beach all the time. I’m not a thin woman but I felt thin when I lived there.
