Actually it is - if you otherwise wouldn't fill up for another few days or a week. Also people are bringing freaking gas cans to store additional gas in their trunk (this was in Tysons today!!!)
Except that once you fill up, you are done. It's not like say, toilet paper where people could buy some every single time they saw it at the store, and just stack it up in their house. Once your tank is full, you are done. Or you are using enough gas to justify needing it.
We had both cars around 1/4 full. I filled up both. No issues and I won't need more (or be able to buy more) for awhile.
