She was pretty specific in her description about activity near her car, a white van, etc.
Did parking lot cameras negate all that? Did store cameras see that no one was following her?
I found this to be very disturbing, and yes, it would appear that this couple was just shopping and minding their own business. At what point did she determine they were about to kidnap her kids? Was she literally making it all up? Or was it a misperception on her part?
Anonymous wrote:I don't know if the couple did actually make comments about the children's appearance, of if that was also part of the lie, but I'm sure this all makes people of color more reluctant to exchange nice pleasantries ("what a cute hair bow!") and certainly less likely to "be the village" for white kids (e.g., if they saw a white toddler doing something unsafe at a store). It's all very sad that these racist self-interested types are creating this kind of world where people feel nervous about interacting with people of another race.
I reminds me a bit of the Blackish episode where Dre sees a little girl alone in an elevator without any adult, and just freezes because he doesn't want to grab a little white girl out of an elevator, or get on an elevator alone with her, and then be accused of kidnapping her.
I don't think I've ever heard of people doing actual time for false reports though -- even Jesse Smollett didn't, right?

Wonder if she'll live blog from jail.
"You guys know what really brightens up a jail cell? curtains!"
Not sure even Martha Stewart tried that one.
Whatever her punishment, I’d like to see her do REAL community service (clean litter from the roadside, clean the kitchen in a soup kitchen, etc.) have to face the people she accused and comprehensively apologize to them. And let them post that video and monetize her bullshit. And I wonder if they are going to file a civil suit against her. I also wonder what her husband thinks of it all.

Oh well. She’s a grown adult who knew exactly what she was doing. If those are the repercussions due to her lies, then so be it.

What about the other couple with 5 kids whose life she messed with? This was a Latino couple who knows what they had to endure. She needs to go to jail.
Anonymous wrote:The couple can file a civil suit against her, can’t they? That would hurt if they have to sell house, etc.
