I will outsource many, many things, before I outsource the laundry, OP. It's not a chore I mind.

Now if only I could outsource tidying up!

But a 2 year old's clothes are small and incredibly simple to wash. Honestly, it's only now that my kids are 5 and 7 that I can see how laundry is going to bog me down long term. The kids clothes are BIGGER and take up more room. They have full sized bedding that needs to be washed. They have sports teams where the uniform needs to be cleaned on a schedule. Their towels are normal size.

Baby and toddler clothes, smaller towels, crib bedding can all go into ONE CYCLE. It's very simple with little ones. I used to even wash some of my stuff mixed in. Now my 7 year old already has a once weekly VERY full load. It will get a bit easier with summer clothing/pajamas which take up less room.

Without laundry to fold, how would I ever get to watch Netflix?

I actually think laundry is the easiest chore to do. Scrubbing showers and bathtubs and mopping is hard! I hang up absolutely everything (other than underwear, socks, pjs and workout clothes- none of which I fold) and it makes it so easy. I just hang as I pull it out of the dryer and it takes 2 minutes. Sheets go back on the bed they came from and towels back on the hook in the bathroom.

If you can afford to do it, it employs people. I notice that since Covid many dry cleaners are offering wash and gold services. They are doing less dry cleaning, so they sensibly are offering another service. This employs people and keeps the economy moving. Not for me, but you are helping others.

I’m OCD about laundry particularly my clothes. Marie Alonso style folding and delicate with washing.

I did that for a while and found it inconvenient. I know that sounds odd, but it was just one other thing to manage, whereas doing the laundry is automatic for me and is so built into my routine that I barely notice it. Plus, I like to have control over what is used and how it is done.

Um what chores fit the cost/benefit calculation for your DH?

Well we're both in biglaw so admittedly not a lot. But if we both had to take much lower paying jobs and re-evaluate the budget, laundry is what would stay before many other things.
