Maybe cases were low because her policies were overbearing?

To be fair, she did put a lot of effort into handling covid. However, while the cases were low, her policies were overbearing and had malignant effects on the students mental health and wellbeing. Obviously, covid is very difficult to manage, but her handling of the pandemic really pushed her over the edge as she was already on thin ice from her handling of substance use and etc. Parents didn't like her because she took drastic measures with certain students without parental consent. Students didn't like her because she over diagnosed people and got students kicked out...the infirmary even gave one girl someone else's medication instead of her daily seizure meds...she was just involved in too many scandalous situations.

That … literally is not a prank.

Didn’t she leave?

Last year, the board told Episcopal that either the medical director or the head of school had to leave. The medical director ended up leaving...she had her own practice and was working at several other schools anyway...she handled a lot of situations poorly, which is why she was asked to leave and why the students were mad and did that prank. Obviously, not the most mature response, but remember the students are (teenage) high schoolers and had serious issues with this woman.

Did her husband leave too? That would be sort of awkward to live in a house on campus after being asked to leave!

No, her husband did not leave. You're right, it's very awkward!! Their daughter attends the school which is why I assume they stayed. In regards to the article, only a very small group of students do hard drugs. I would say around half of the students drink, but hard drugs are far from the norm at Episcopal. The kids involved with hard drugs are not popular and have little sway over other students. Really, the party scene is not much different from other schools, except everyone lives together so people see drinking antics more often even if not involved, which makes it seem like there's a bigger problem than there is.

Did the other thread discussing this drug bust disappear? The devil works hard but Episcopal’s lawyers work harder.

current student. on the surface it's a lot of rich white kids here, which is where the insane social scene, sex, and drugs come from, but if your kid is secure and a little less mainstream they'll be able to find the groups of less intense kids. really thriving minority communities, incredible community for queer/lgbtq+ kids. depends on the kid if it's right for you, but I know it can be harder for students in the fast paced popularity hierarchy than those just here to focus on their academics, or art, or sometimes atheletics. socially high school is hard wherever you go

As an EHS alum, I believe that the substance use at Episcopal is the same level as other private schools in the area. If a kid is caught drinking, even once, they are put on said drug counseling program and diagnosed by the school with a substance use disorder. This makes the drug problem seem far worse than it is. Yes, some kids use substances, but not more than any other school...and many kids don't even drink at all. The admin often blows situations out of proportion, especially the new head of school and the former medical director who was previously mentioned... the admin is going downhill, but the students are just regular adolescents under faulty leadership. A bunch of administrators got fired last year due to another scandal.

+! I have a close friend who works there and says lots of drugs, alcohol usage....

Then your friend is trash.

My friend actually is on the committee to help counsel kids with any type of drug problem.
