"The Virginia Dept. of Education has provided a Remote Assessment option for full-time distance learning students in grades 3-8 who, due to the pandemic, are receiving all their instruction remotely and will not go to their school to take the SOL tests. Students can access during our SOL schedule by going to https://www.doe.virginia.gov/remotetest/."

I would guess that the virtual option is for kids to have the practice taking the test and to give an idea of where they are but the home test cannot be properly proctored. I suspect that they are worried about cheating given that parents were heard and seen doing their kids iReadys in the fall. I know that the NNAT and IAAT were given in person in FCPS and were not available in a virtual format. I would imagine that the SOLs are being treated like the NNAT and the IAAT.
