Some kids sleep naked, or wear undies or regular clothes to bed.

Some kids don’t wear underwear. Some girls choose not to wear bras, unless they have to for gym.

Some kids don’t wear socks.

Coats, jackets, etc are cheap through consignment and thrift stores, or you can buy for peanuts at the end-of-season sales the prior year.

I have an 11 yo. Most of her daily wear shirts are from swim meets and teams. She’s a collector, lol. We didn’t spend much on her in 2020- mostly a few pairs of shoes and some pjs. She returned to school recently and we dropped a few hundred on school clothes without a whole lot to show for it. I didn’t bother with sales and went for popular brands, which drove the ticket price up.

I really don’t think there’s any normal. Some people go for trendier wardrobes and so replace most things close to annually, and others get multiple seasons out of every item so don’t buy as much. Obviously growing kids need wardrobe refreshers more often.

Overall, in a normal year, probably around $1500 for DD and $3k for me. If there is a special event or two add another $1000.

I've never really kept track but if I had to guess probably $1000 spent through out the year which includes jeans/shorts, bodysuits, underwear and pajama bottoms from American Eagle, sneakers from Nike and some bodysuits from Nordstrom.

Wholly depends if your teen girl is into brands:

Nike shorts? $30 each
Lululemon leggings - $108 each with tax
Bathing suit she likes? $65

This is interesting. My 13yo DD has pretty much never asked for clothes but is starting. I just spent ~$125 at Shein for some basics & about to buy her a few pair of Brandy Melville sweats ($32 each).

These sound very low to me. Niece goes through a few thousand dollars a year. Even if their HHI wasn't high, jeans being $60-$80 for a mid-range pair the couple hundred dollars a year posters must have better luck than I do when shopping. Same with leggings-anything less than $80 immediately pills and is thin so it wears out quickly.

Per season? $300-ish. DD is 13. We buy things as we go rather than one big shopping trip.

Summer: bathing suits, flip flops, sandals, jean shorts, tees, tanks, summer dresses

Fall & winter: new athletic sneakers, plus fashion sneakers, boots, a couple pairs of jeans, tops, sweaters, jacket or coat.

Spring: new round of light weight clothes: tees, cute tops, leggings, hoodies etc.

$500-1500ish, depending on growth spurts. Winter outdoor gear especially. Then all the sports and school merch. I try not to keep track, I guess. Feels a lot like that meme of the girl throwing cash out the window.

$250 per season in a big Old Navy binge for DD8 who cares about clothes but isn’t brand conscious yet.
