They actually aren’t. Most are opening like dc but they get to claim open status because they have a percentage back.

+1000. The Lafayette virtual parents are seriously trying to ruin this for us. It's getting really hard to sympathize with them - small number of crazy people who don't believe school should ever reopen. Those that were on the parent huddle heard it - BONKERS

No way I’ll name it a) because I’m petty like that 2) we are high performing, diverse and never mentioned on DCUM.
We don’t trash teachers or admin (even in private).
None of us wanted to go back in term 3 we didn’t think it was safe.

I don’t want anyone for even a second to think that we are doing it for the rude and nasty people on this site. I didn’t read this site before the brookings report, but holy hell were they right. DCPS has already begun their backtracking bc they realize their messaging helped create this nice white parent monster, but it will also take some self reflection from y’all. I hope you take this opportunity to start thanking teachers and mending those relationships bc boy oh boy was your true self shown during this time.
If you've read this site and these threads (and not had to go into a classroom and teach for almost an entire year) then you should know that while there is certainly some venting done here (it's part of the fun of being anonymous on the Internet) there is ample reason for DCPS parents to be angry and frustrated with how the school system has treated us and our kids. You might want to check some of your own assumptions. Not all of us are rich white parents living in NW.
And you shouldn't go back "for the rude and nasty people on this site." You should go back because IT'S YOUR JOB and our tax dollars pay your salary. Also because the scientific evidence is overwhelmingly clear that it is safe to do so.
As for "thanking" teachers, what should we thank them for? Slavishly following the divisive advice of the WTU? Failing to show up for Zoom classes, grade student work, or make themselves available on the day off they have EVERY WEEK when they are supposed to be supporting students? Because I have two kids in DCPS at two different schools and that has been our experience. And neither has been able to return to IPL this year. I'll thank you to do your job and stop acting like you are a hero.
Thank you for proving my point.
