Breed rescues are fantastic. Good for you OP. We have rescue dogs from Lab Rescue and Keeshond Rescue. Someone out there will have a perfect home for the doodle!

Are you or she signed up for nextdoor where she lives? My mom was in the same situation and I posted for her in the neighborhood about the dog and asked that she be allowed to visit the dog. It has worked out well. The new owners are usually home but have one very long day where they are out and about. So they drop the dog at my mom’s house and she spoils the dog all day and plays with him. I work from home so at lunch I go over to make sure all is well.

Nextdoor is really not a great idea. People there frequently post items for free that are then posted for sale by the people who take them, and I have no doubt the same could happen with a dog.

Friends or breed-specific rescues are a safer choice.

I don't know if adopt-a-pet is good or not, but it is another choice to look at.

Adopt-a-Pet actually has its own rehoming site/section now. It's free for the owner -- you create the profile and screen applicants on your own. I believe the adopter pays a $125 fee, which Adopt-a-Pet says goes to help animals in need or something like that. I agree that a Doodle rescue is probably your best bet but if that doesn't pan out Adopt-a-Pet is worth looking into.

Please surrender the dog to a reputable rescue. Just giving it to a stranger on the internet could be handing it into terrible circumstances.
