Because you are combining two clubs' player pools with more players continuing to join (and there are already other alliances like Manassas United). The best of the best players play in the best leagues, bubble players get to train in the environment but play more minutes in the other leagues (like CCL) instead of always on the bench.

Trying out for McLean was already an option. Why is this better now that half the practices are in Springfield and the club is called something different?

This is just PR. All the SYC kids could have tried out for McLean at any time. None of the girls in the high school levels are good enough so it won’t affect the girls side at all. Other than I’ve heard from 2 parents from McLean already looking to jump to Arlington if they have to drive anywhere near Springfield for even one practice a week. This doesn’t affect any other club on the girls side bc there won’t be any change unless players leave McLean bc of practice distance. The younger SYC boys will help out McLean so I’m assuming that’s the benefit.

And whoever things the VDA/PWSI alliance on the girls side was successful you definitely don’t know anyone there. Players are fleeing...and check out their records in the last 3 years.

"We will maintain our participation in MLSNEXT, CCL, EDP, and NCSL for the 2021-2022 season year as SYC teams." Literally in the email.
