The point is not that some people "can't figure out" how to get an ID, the point is that in many places governments have specifically taken steps to make it more difficult for certain groups to get those IDs even if they know exactly how to get them.
Steps like closing DMVs in black and hispanic neighborhoods so people there have to travel farther and take more time off work to get an ID. Then reducing funding for public transit so it takes even longer to get to the DMVs in white neighborhoods. Then reducing the hours of those DMVs so that people who live in those further away neighborhoods have to take time off work to get their IDs. Then blocking laws that require paid leave so that poor people can't afford to take enough time off to ride the crippled public transit to the further away white neighborhood to get their IDs during the reduced service hours. Then raising fees for IDs so even if they manage to get the time off and make it to the DMVs in the white neighborhoods on the crippled public transit during the reduced service hours a number of them decide they'd rather keep the money for necessities and not vote.
In MD, the DMV are not in the richer areas of town. Nice try though.

You can’t bring your own water or food into a baseball stadium. But if you ban free drinks and water outside a voting place - racist.
Imagine being so incredibly stupid you don't understand the difference between a private, for-profit company enforcing its own rules on its own property that nobody has any right or need to be on and suppressing a constitutional right.

No, but many are in areas that are extremely difficult, if not impossible to get to using push transportation.
Map out for me please, the best way to get from Friendship Heights to Glen Burnie. For extra credit: same thing to any other DMV - BUT it has to be one that’s full service.
If you feel compelled to sputter:” But Uber....”, then price that out round trip as well. Note also, that the DMV might still be appointment only, which means not a lot of flexibility if, say, the bus you have to transfer to is late.
I’m sorry, are you seriously implying that the poor struggling population of FRIENDSHIP HEIGHTS has no access to the DMV and therefore can’t get an ID and get vaccinated?? The Friendship Heights that is 76% white and has a median HHI of $103K? Man the struggles they must face. 🙄[/quote
Nope, not at all. I gave you an example because it's one I'm familiar with. Too bad you let that distract you from even attempting to answer the question. So: try this again. I'll even let you pick the neighborhood of your choice. I'll add, too, that you really have no idea who lives in some of the apartments in Friendship Heights on limited and/ or fixed incomes. I'd say more, but it might encourage more irrelevant tangents.

How is this a thing? How can this possibly be allowable? According to some here, the AA community has a very difficult time obtaining ID, hence the federal push to outlaw any requirements at the state level requiring ID to vote.
But states - even here here in DC - are requiring people who want to get vaccines to show ID first?!?! Seriously?!?!
If people can’t get an ID, and we need to change election laws to reflect that, then how can you possibly demand them display an ID to get a vaccine that could save their life?
What?!?!
Please explain to us exactly how those in the AA community "have a very difficult time obtaining ID." Is there something specific to the AA community that limits the number of IDs available, for example?
I can't wait to hear this.
Anyone can make an appointment and go to the dmv and get an ID. What’s the problem ? It’s a Little more difficult if you are not a citizen. Are these blacks you are referring to citizens? If not, they will have no trouble getting an ID . You must get yourself to the dmv though. The dmv doesn’t come to you.

OP, you are disgusting. you could not care less of AA people and whether they have access to vaccines of not. this is the usual "why we cannot change the law to require IDs to vote" while people need ID to buy alcohol and crap like that. no, there is no push to outlaw requirement at the state level requiring ID to vote, there is aa gigantic effort at the state level promoted by the GOP to introduce laws that would make difficult for people to vote (not just ID for people who have already showed them when they registered to vote), including dramatically reducing early voting days (Iowa cut 1/3 of early voting days), reducing voting hours on election day, dramatically limiting eligibility for mail voting/absentee voting, dramatically reducing the number of drop boxes, all things that have nothing to do with coting fraud but everything to do with making more difficult to vote, especially for poorer people and especially in dense urban areas. so, really GTH
Then why oppose voter ID if ID’s are so easy to get?
Why is showing proof of who you are the hill that dems are so determined to die on?
It’s almost like dems want to enable situations where one person could go around voting all day long under other people’s name, or do the same with mail in ballots picked up in-person, in advance of an election.
Explain how either of those scenarios isn’t possible. I’ll wait.
