This. We need more policing. Not less.

It’s not just the police, though. We need a process that includes prosecutors, judges, and juries that will remove violent criminals, regardless of age, from our communities until they are no longer a threat.

Police can make arrests, as they did here. But without the other elements doing their part, what’s the point?

Try again sweetie. Fairfax County arrests/charges were cut more than in half from 2019 to 2020. Our kids weren't in school either.

Stay in Fairfax then, and keep clutching your pearls. DC residents don't care about your opinion.

I'm not the person you are responding to, but I don't know anyone who actually wears pearls on the reg-- do you?

It would be very kind of you to express some concern for Mr. Anwar's untimely and horrific manner of death rather than making a sarcastic comment about pearl clutching.

But it’s fitting. Shows who she is.

920 people were shot in DC last year.

There's really no problem.

Big city leftists voted for these politicians and demonized anyone who wasn’t on board by calling them racist. This is the bed you made, now please stay in your city and don’t come to the suburbs or countryside and vote for the same policies that made you leave.

Some, for example, have been living with grandparents while going to school -- except now they can't go to school and their caregivers are disproportionately dying of covid. I'd like to see how you all would have handled similar hardship. So far as I'm concerned, it's a miracle we're not seeing even more crime than we are.

Ummm most teens would do stupid teen stuff like underage drinking, smoking pot, maybe light shoplifting. No one is disputing that we need to be more lenient on that stuff with teens/people in general if not repeat offenders. Most teens would not commit random assaults or muggings or kill a guy in a carjacking. Wtf is wrong with you that you think that kind of stuff is normal.

You mean no one is disputing that we should be lenient on the kind of "teens will be teens" stuff that privileged white kids have been getting away with for generations? Thanks for your generosity.

You are welcome to list anything that should result in a more lenient response. Just please don't include muggings, carjackings, and murders. Those should not result in lenient consequences for anyone.

I agree with PP that black kids were disproportionately charged for crimes such as shoplifting, pot smoking, etc. as compared to white kids. But the solution to that problem is not to just give all crimes committed by minors a lenient sentence/response.

So your white kid should be executed by the police for using a fake $20?

Nah.

I’d kill him myself.

I, a very smart person, keep getting cuts while working on my house, so what I'm doing now is putting more bandaids on each cut not trying to figure out why I'm getting cut.

Anonymous wrote:I agree with you. And Trump got 70 million votes nationwide in part because there are a lot of people who agree that “woke” crime policies are moronic. Couple the Youth Rehabilitation Act with a CPS policy that promotes family reunification as the preferred policy in most circumstances ensures that poorly parented young offenders are continually re-released into the environments which produced them.

How many of those votes were from people living in cities with "woke" policies as opposed to racist folks living in the country?

Anonymous wrote:Because as a policy matter, the DC city government believes that crime is not really the criminal’s fault, it is rather an effect of more general social conditions. Further, they seem to believe that mass incarceration is a greater even than crime. Both considerations argue for more lenience in criminal sentencing. I personally don’t subscribe to either view, but its not like anyone is making a secret of the reasons that are driving these policy choices.

Typo, sorry, greater “evil.”
