Can someone from Loudon or any other district tell me what they are doing re: lunch? It should be outside as much as possible per CDC guidelines, but what if it is raining or whatever? Are people utilizing the lunchroom and spacing kids?
ACPS is picking and choosing which CDC guidelines they follow and it is confusing and maddening!
Meanwhile, kids are suffering and will be until we can get past the pandemic in a somewhat normal fashion.
Fixed that for you.
You're an ass.
Also -it's only public school kids that are suffering. Private school kids are doing just fine. I'm not sure when it was deemed acceptable to place the entire burden of this goddamn pandemic on the backs of kids and parents and kids that can't afford private schools. Our society sucks.
Actually, the "burden of the goddamn pandemic" has been on healthcare workers and front line workers, not your privileged kids sitting in their nice DCUM-land houses doing distance learning during a "goddamn" pandemic.
+1

In Alexandria, I guarantee you that every school board incumbent will be re-elected in the fall. And every city council incumbent who hasn't said a word for the last year but who have suddenly noticed that this is an issue and are now pretending to care, will be re-elected too.
And schools will still be closed.

Similar upticks over the summer and winter led to major surges in the spread of disease, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said at a news briefing on Monday. She said she had a sense of “impending doom” about a possible fourth surge of the virus.
The nation has “so much reason for hope,” she said. “But right now I’m scared.”
We can cherry-pick all we want but nothing is proven yet. It is better to be safe than sorry.![]()

Regardless, we should be pushing ACPS to have outdoor lunches or at least with open windows indoors. The long-term solution cannot be to continue this endless cycle of virtual learning (even in the classroom all the kids remain online). We’ve got two kids in private and two in ACPS. Our private schools have been open since fall without any problems.
