i just finished the series. Season 3 lacked the charm of seasons 1 and 2. I'm depressed. Dov Glickman is a phenomenal actor, Michael Aloni is still hot as is the actor that plays Lippe but man was that a depressing story.

I'm amazed at how well the actor that plays Yosale acted. Being a child actor with a few lines in seasons.1 and 2 does not translate necessarily to being a good adult actor. He was great.

Lack of continuity on the kids for sure.

In season 1 when Akita’s first bride and her family come to meet Shilem, he says he has 6 kids. Giti Zvie Ari Akiva, a daughter who married a Sephard and was casted out. In season 1, episode 5, the kids gather to discuss where Shilem should live. Akiva, Zvi Arie, Giti, and another girl (not the outcast). This mystery daughter from episode 5 is never shown again. The outcast is in one of the episodes. Who is the 6th?

Did I miss how Libbe died? Did they ever say in the show? Also, what was Ruchemi saying "yes" to in the final scene?

But Hanina, and (guy who got locked in the car), and (Ruchmani's younger brother with the mole) are studying. Guy-who-got-locked-in-the-car is pretty old now, and his wife is clearly insanely overworked. It seems like there will be no end to these three men's studies. I don't understand the dynamic. So are the women okay with that forever because it's sort of seen as Maslow's self-actualization for the man? If I was set up on a date with a guy who was going to do that, I don't think I'd be wanting to marry that guy. I'd want someone to bring in $, especially if I was to have many children. So I'm obviously missing something; if someone could please explain it to me. Thanks.

From what I understand (this comes up often in the Facebook group) it’s common for women to work and support the families, some yeshiva/kollel’s pay a stipend for expenses but often it isn’t enough. Being a scholar is considered an honorable way of life but often requires the family to take government services (welfare) which leads to some additional tension in Israel between Haredi Jews and everyone else. While women are more often breadwinners it’s often said that Haredi men are generally very helpful with the children.

I was so worrying about Ruchami. It did not look safe.

I didn’t think that at all about Ruchami. She came out alive and well. Similar to season two her parents had to go through their own emotions for the Weiss family to wind up happy. Lippe’s repent scene was so powerful prior to that. He is such an interesting character. Hanina impressed me, too.

Well.. certainly the Ruchami story ended well, but they really pushed us through the emotional wood chopper there until we could breath again seeing the baby being healthy. Made me cry when she was recording those tapes.

Kive? I think they somehow throw at him a lot of tragedy, like the grief of loss of his mother in the first season was not enough.. poor dude really struggled.. that dream.. those heaters..

So then, they set him up with the silly baby mishap that ends him up in a hot water and him almost loosing the baby and then setting him up with the wife that we already worry about and want badly to somehow turn it all great for both of them to the point of us getting emotional pimples.

What did they do to his father? Have mercy Shtisel writers!

And what about this whole scene at the cemetery with his wife tomb?.. that was total tear jerker. I also think it was not entirely fair just to demand from him such a total cut off from his past, after all this was mom of his baby and it is kind of too much to ask. First they went to one extreme and had her to overpower his new relationship and then they yanked her out entirely?

Overall, yes, we all had to watch it because we are invested two season deep in it but It really could use some lighter themes. Well, there is always the next season..

So based on the scene right before the season 3 finale ending with Ruchami (with all of the people who had passed appearing with Akiva, Shulem and his brother) and Shulems speech about how the people who had died are still with them I thought Ruchami and the baby actually didn’t survive... especially when she looks directly into the camera. Or am I overthinking??
