Much like how the tacky faux-French Country McMansions in Utah are not the same as a true château, building a tacky apartment-esque façade that badly mimics Italian architecture doesn't mean it's the same as the real thing. Lacks the context, surroundings, and character. If you think they're the same your idea of 'doing Italy' is probably a photo in front of the leaning tower.

The creamsicle colors look a lot more in keeping with the style of the house. There's just something about the gray that make it look like an imitation Italian new build McMansion when it's actually over 90 years old.
If you've got a 90-year-old mansion styled after an Italian villa, own it and go with the terra cotta colors that match the style.
