Similar but American-born from multi-generational household, the eldest being immigrants (if that matters). It’s not as if kids today are hopping trains like my grandpa and his friends would do.

I would say yes to traveling with friends for a trip if they are responsible but no no traveling alone for spring break- boy or girl, but especially girl. Nothing good happens on spring break. At least not at the typical break locations such as Cancun, Daytona, etc.

Heck yeah! Dh and I met senior year and backpacked the world together for 6 summers. We have 2 DDs and have been active members of the Home Exchange community their whole lives. I believe we've done 27 exchanges in 16 countries. Even if they weren't that experienced, I'd hope to kick them out into the world. There's something so special about traveling young.

I am the person whose son did the 3 week road trip out west. Two of the friends with him were girls. And if DS was a DD, I would've let her go too.

Yes, and teen traveling has been very different ever since. I'm sure this is not the case for all HS graduates, but all of the official senior trips I know of (including my DC's school and DC's friends' schools) require a parent/adult to go along for every 1-2 kids going on the trip. Many rentals at the beach won't allow groups under 21 to stay without someone 21+, and many parents don't want to take on the liability.

I can guarantee the majority are not official then and parents are signing off on the leases. You’re telling me there is an adult for every 1-2 children? OK.

My kids turned 18 their senior year. You realize they are going to college ALONE in a few months?
I would absolutely allow it under some circumstances. I wouldn’t be happy about a beach week type trip, nor would I finance it.
