I'm confused why your daughter never contacted the coach in the 1st place.
Anyway, congrats. I suggest she email the coach and say was accepted and she intends to try out (assuming she is going to try out).
There are zoom meetings and work outs over the summer.
My son was a 'preferred walk-on" and he got a scholarship after the 1st year, good luck.

Oh, didn't see this update! I just wrote that she could read into it if it was a personal note. Coach knew about her from the admission that is trying to get your dd to choose their school and are uncertain that she will.

If it was a personal note, yes she could read some into it.
If not, it is a ploy to get her and college thinks she might have more options and is trying to draw her to choose their school.
I think depending on mass mail or personal, two interpretations are possible.
Can you tell if it is a personal e-mail? If so, yes, she could read into it.

Aw, don't do this. Some other kid may be on pins and needles, too, at other schools where OP's daughter is holding slots. Practice kindness and recognize that for every action there is a reaction. OP's daughter doesn't need to be a jerk like you're suggesting, PP.

You have no idea if OP’s daughter is applying for DI, DII or DIII. Given that coach is contacting daughter cold, I’m guessing DIII. So there are likely no scholarship athletes at all.
OP, many years ago I got a similar letter from a coach I had never contacted at a (DIII) school I was waiting to hear an admissions decision from. I was accepted.
