School starts late. There’s no excuse to eat breakfast or lunch at 10:30-11 in front of the students.
If you’re judging students’ manners for citizenship skills, start by judging yourselves first and set a good example. Manners matter for everyone.



They may be diabetic or something. I get non-diabetic hypoglycemia and have fainted throughout my life. I taught AAP last year. I eat whenever I start to feel my blood sugar getting low whether it’s “the right time” to others or not. I’ve never once fainted while working in education. In retail I once fainted at the cash register as I didn’t get a break until five hours in but I usually need to eat ever 3-4 hours.

Calm down and realize some people need to eat for medical reasons whether it’s the scheduled break time or not. Same with some kids.

Well..., since the adm and teachers judge students’ manners and grade citizenship skills, it is fair to judge their professionalism. They can laugh all they want if they are piggies.


What is this the 1950s? My kids don't get manners grades, and there is not an "eats in class" component to their soft-skills section of the report card. My kids teachers (upper elementary, AAP) the past two years allowed snacks in class as long as they were non-nut (class allergy), didn't have loud wrappers, and didn't make a huge mess.

Honestly, if you have a problem, address it with the teacher or the principal rather than make passive-aggressive complaints to the internet that will not fix your concern.
