It's criminal that they have a waitlist. Any child who wants to go in person should be able to. Hybrid should mean half the kids in school and half at home. I honestly can't believe this is how things are in America.

The waitlist exists because we planned for students whose parents signed the up for hybrid! We (APS) asked you 2x! While some students are dropping out of hybrid, it's not as easy as one in one out. If you are in MS, we have to make sure there is room in ALL of your classes.

The gyms are open, the restaurants are open, the rec centers are open, sports are open - and schools are not.

If that doesn't anger you, you need to reassess your values.

do you realize that states through out the country are sending everyone back 5 days a week? Teachers aren't dropping like flies, kids aren't dropping like flies. It turns out to be just fine (at least as 'fine' as any of the other allowable activities like eating inside or working out in indoor gyms)

There’s no solution. Concurrent is a horrible form of instruction. It’s the price we pay to get kids in the building but it is not and cannot be as good as instruction that is done solely in person or solely online. It is impossible to split your attention and focus evenly between two different groups and not have instruction quality suffer. The kid who cried because the camera was pointed at the teacher who was teaching to the class? That’s what many parents here say teachers SHOULD be doing. When we say we have to mostly teach to the device to keep the at home kids in the loop, they act like we are trying to make in person suck for those kids. Neither is true. We want both groups to learn and get attention but this form of instruction is NOT APPROPRIATE and the best we can do is not make it completely awful. There is no way to be great at it.

You are correct! Couldn’t possibly be best for any child. You certainly know what is best for my kids and every kid! You are all knowing, and I for one am most grateful for your guidance.

That's funny, I clicked on the wrong forum and all the descriptions were so awful I just assumed I was in the right place (fcps). We start next week. I hope it's better but not counting on it.

This is a very strange comment since most of the feedback here was positive.

My 9th grade loved it. He loved eating outside with friends, he loved that he got all his homework done at school (not as efficient at home during asynchronous time), and he loved meeting his teachers in person. It was nice to see him animated last night like he used to be.

My LCPS child has had a great experience so far. Based on feedback on this forum I also just got permission for 4 days in secondary. There is so much downtime to accommodate screen breaks, he said it's been like having a private tutor. Frankly I hope the DL kids aren't allowed to re-select. My son got 45min of one on one math help today. None of the DL kids ask questions. This is a great opportunity for catch up foe the HL kids.
