They tend to sleep until 11-12, and those hours between my natural waking time (around 7) and when they wake up are glorious! I read, watch TV, drink coffee, and bask in the beauty of a quiet house. I’m kinda looking forward to this

Now on weekends, sleeping in until noon or 1pm. I was starting to stress about it, but the responses here have reinforced it's just normal. I've also had to come to grips about going to sleep before my kids.

YOU WILL GET UP AND YOU WILL ENJOY THE DAY
We generally let our kids sleep late on the weekends, but we do get them up by early afternoon so their schedules aren't completely thrown off. One of my kids has always been a night owl, and there's no benefit to waking him up just because we've decided it's time to start the day. He needs 10-12 hours of sleep, and I want him to get it. On weekdays he takes a nap in the afternoons. On the weekends he sleeps late and doesn't need the nap. One of my brothers was the same way.

She had this policy even on the summers I spent at her house while I was in college. I was always a good daughter, student and did all the chores she wanted, so it was ridiculous that I couldn't sleep in on the weekend. In high school, I had to be at the bus stop at 5:55 am and always felt sleep deprived no matter what I did.

We only wake if there is a sport or other reason. On sundays he can sleep til whenever (although it’s mostly not past 11).
But what about the teen going to bed at 9pm and sleeping until 1pm? That doesn't seem right either.
