I don’t think it’s unusual. As long as your diet is reasonably healthy, go for it. My 86 yo dad eats a bowl of ice cream every night and has since I was very young. DH would eat ice cream every night but I don’t keep it stocked in the house for a number of reasons. I just buy it when it’s on sale. I think we all have our favorites.

No. I also love dessert.

Life should be about enjoying things. Otherwise, what's the point?

I eat ice cream most nights (the Edys low fat slow churned.) Was average sized until recent perimenopause so think metabolism has changed slightly, low cholesterol.

When my father had triple by pass at a pretty young age, I asked the doctor after what i should or shouldn't eat a lot of and the number one answer? Ice cream. I was eating a pint a day and in great shape. You can't always see the dangers fatty foods promote.

This previous poster probably won't see this post again to reply but really? Ice cream over meats and so many other things??

Same. This is why I run (among other reasons).

Me too. A runner and ice cream eater. With good cholesterol and blood sugar levels and very trim.

It really sort of keeps everything in balance for me. When my alarm goes off for an early morning run, I think “I should really run after eating that ice cream last night.” Then at night, I think “I ran 6 miles this morning! I’m going to eat ice cream!” And so on and so on.

I drink a cup of hot chocolate with whipped cream every night.

A friend of mine lives in Colorado. She gets up at 4:30am every day, works out hard for an hour, then grades papers, etc., goes to work (middle school teacher), comes home , takes a hike then has dinner and then a very large bowl of ice cream EVERY night. She is super slim and fit.

I used to be addicted to chocolate chip ice cream from Thomas Sweet. I swear they put something in there to make you want more. It also made me so happy.

For the record, I have a huge sweet tooth and eat some sort of dessert (or multiple desserts) every day. I've been on a brownie sundae kick recently for some reason. No big deal as long as I cut back on other calories and eat plenty of fruits and veggies.

Fat and calories don’t matter.

I think 25 g of sat fat a day is too much. It is above the daily recommended value of 20 g which is already too much for a country where the leading cause of death is heart disease.

Cup of ice cream is not 400 calories.

Depending on the ice cream, the calories seem to range from about 300 to 500 per cup.

This. So a small bowl every night seems fine. A big bowl every night is probably not a great idea.

I adore ice cream, but it is very bad for you.

My incredibly lean grandparents who died at 97 and 96 ate ice cream together every night for literally decades. They also drank a glass of chocolate milk as an afternoon snack each day.

My family farms and make a proper dinner every night, including dessert. No one is overweight.

DH and I have a sweet snack every night. Still not overweight.

Enjoy your ice cream and don’t worry.

I'd rather have ice cream every night than a glass of wine.
