We usually go on one a year. It makes it really nice with kids. We get adjoining rooms in the hotel. We put the kids to bed and then go out and enjoy the nightlife. My parents are exhausted and don't want to go out past 9pm, but would wake if there were something wrong with the kids (sound sleepers who don't wake).
I find it concerning that your bf still goes on family vacations. How old is he? Are they paying?
Why is it concerning that bf goes on family vacations? Is there an age cut off where that's not cool anymore? Also. You mention you still like to vacation with your parents, what's the difference?

My parents invited him to ours in 2019 and he couldn't make it due to work, which was fine. I think it's weird to force the issue. What if you couldn't make it due to work? Health issues? I do agree it is a kind thing to welcome your adult child's boyfriend or girlfriend like this, but if it's an unwritten expectation that can be kind of pushy.
